York Day 2 (9 Aug)

Almost caught up on posts!

Spent our morning walking the York walls. It really is a lovely way to see the old city.

After the morning's leisurely walk (complete with frequent stops), we ended up at the York Castle museum for a picnic lunch. We were met there by the other sword guys for the highlight of the day. Weapons handling! Yes, we got to lay hands on real old swords, I kid you not!

After playing with the antiques, we had some time to kill, and went hunting for a replacement bung and cap for the air mattress, because yours truly managed to forget the original on the side at Matte and Suzy's place. We struck third time lucky at the third camp shop we tried, so we'll sleep a bit softer tonight. Then found our way to the talk at the Old Barley hall.

Retreat afterwards to grab the bus back tp the campsite. It started getting quite chilly too. One shopping trip later we heated some canned Irish stew (if you're an Afrikaner, read soup) on the gas stove, and managed and earlyish night.
