A New Year (a 1/4 of the way in...)

Guess we've already established that I'm not the most committed blogger. The main reason I'm actually here today is because my friend Dina inspired me with her blog From vet to nymphett.I really liked the way she splits her posts into a number of focuses, and with me trying to complete a masters too (and fit into my wetsuit again) I thought I should follow her lead.

Here goes:

Masters
After lots of procrastination, musing, reading and brain-storming, I've managed to determine that the reason I'm not getting anything done is because I've got too much cool stuff and I'm not sure where to begin. Once this insight dawned on me, I approached my best friend, masters-guilt-tripper, postgrad-survivor, husband James and asked advice. What I got in return was the suggestion that I focus on one primary source only, a.k.a, one newspaper and analyze it complete, and then see what I have. At the least, I'll have done some work and know what I need to do next. At best, I might have a masters in the rough.

So with this in mind I've gone back to my reading, ordered a few more books from inter-lending, and have been working to get my notes back into order after moving house. For tomorrow I've made an agreement to meet with Dina to do some writing before and after the history seminar I'm attending. Have to work hard in the morning, because I'll otherwise feel guilty about painting wargaming models with Sasha in the afternoon!

Project Hot Stuff
Never sure how honest one should be about one's weight! So let's simply say that from where I'm standing now, my current aim is to shed 10kg. Then I'll re-access and set a new goal. What I probably need to do though is to simply drag James and myself to a dietician, find out what good weights for us are (due to the amount of exercise we do) and then find some low GI eating tips that do not include dairy products!

Fortunately my high school reunion is only next year, so my only concern is to be fit into my wetsuit comfortably when I go for a scuba refresher course in the second half of this year!

Wargaming
Been working on my Space Wolves, will post some pics as soon as I've finished painting a few. Hoping to rope Sasha into helping!

Cats
Cute as ever. Zorn decided to keep me company on the bed with James away last night.
